Liposuction

Liposuction

Liposuction, also known as the fat removal technique, is an aesthetic surgery where regional adiposity is removed in people who do not have weight problems but want to lose fat in localized areas.

With the liposuction method, excess adipose tissue is removed and the body is reshaped. It is especially applied in stubborn regional fat deposits such as the waist, abdomen, hips, thighs, and knees. For the liposuction method, 1-2 millimeter incisions are made on the adipose tissues. Then, the vacuuming method is applied and the fat removal process is performed from the incisions.

Before having a liposuction procedure, it is important that patients have an examination and get the opinion of a specialist doctor. Liposuction is not a weight loss method. Liposuction is a method that provides regional slimming and shapes the body. If there is general obesity or a weight problem other than regional fat, these patients should first get rid of their excess weight by following a diet and exercise program. Then, the liposuction method can be applied to the remaining fat. Having this in mind, liposuction is performed on patients who have good general health, but it is not applied to patients who have just given birth or are pregnant. Patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, or heart disease should be tested before liposuction is performed, and the necessary precautions should be taken by determining the risk factors for these people. Liposuction is not applied to patients of advanced age.

In which cases does liposuction not work? This method does not prevent weight gain. This is why, after liposuction, it is important to eat healthily, pay attention to weight, and exercise regularly. Patients need to determine their lifestyle accordingly. If there is frequent weight gain and loss after liposuction, it is not possible for the treatment to be successful. In addition to this, if the person has sagging skin along with regional excesses and fat, the liposuction method alone is not enough. In particular, sagging of the abdominal wall occurs in women who have given birth. This sagging cannot be corrected with liposuction alone and it is necessary to apply other treatment methods. In conclusion, liposuction is a technique that can usually be applied in combination with other techniques to ensure the best results.
